She scrubs up well! FINALLY!

One word for normally fashion awkward Kristen Stewart. WOW.

This years Scream awards Kristen Stewart struts down the stage looking, dare we say it, confident in a gorgeous dress by a new upcoming designer.

Others looking FINE on the Scream awards red carpet;

Vampire Diaries, Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder.

Christina Ricci in a classic, mini LBD

Stunning Eliza Dushku

I'm certainly not screaming at these awards.

She Strikes Again!

Our favourite style icon Lauren Conrad strikes again with another book, not fiction this time, oh no!

A style book so we can learn from the best and guess what? mine came today!
I'm so excited and can't wait to snuggle down into my bed and get some serious tips to discover my unique style.
I have only had time to scan through but i have already learnt how to get the same loose curls as her and apply the perfect day make-up, it's pure genius.
Now all i have to do is get my pen and paper and make a note on what i need to invest in. It looks like a new wardrobe, make-up set and curling irons.
Let the experimental times begin, prepare to see some failed attempts but also some complete successes.

The Hole Picture!

I just can't understand it!
There is nothing better then a big, thick knit in the winter, it is definitely a staple piece each year and what do they go and do this time round.
They put blood holes in them, what is the deal with that?
The whole point in a woolly jumper is to keep you warm so what use is putting holes in them? if i wanted a holey jumper i would buy one myself and wear it so much it creates them NATURALLY!.

And to be honest, they don't look that great on anyway, but don't worry I'm open to change so if i see a good one i will let you know.
This has got to be fashion on a bad day (season).

Call me old fashion but i like my jumpers in one piece.

The Parka

This one i love!
i wasn't to fond of it last year but i think it has grown on me and i have indulged in on last weekend, £95 from urban outfitters. yes, slightly pricey but it is a coat so you are going to be wearing it almost every day, especially in the cold winter nights approaching (EXCITINGGG).

I am very fussy on two things, one of them being handbags but the other being coats so it was a bit of a quest to find my dream coat.
I'm not going to lie, the parka i bought on Saturday actually made me perform a crime, Adultery! yes i cheated! on a coat i first fell in love in All saints but unfortunately for the coat he just had too much of an expensive taste (£180 to be exact) and i just couldn't commit. sorry.

Since i have bought my new Parka i have worn it everyday and so far it is keeping me warm, just need to get the perfect scarf and gloves for the perfect trio.

Parka's do come with warnings though.
WARNING be care full not to get one too long on your body or it will make you look about 5 inches shorter and for someone like me that isn't what i want. Make sure it falls just below your derriere and pair it with leggings, jeggings or bare legs if your feeling daring to go out in the cold.

Check out the Kate Beckinsale wearing one and she looks great as always.

Tapered trousers - the new hareems?

Ladies! just when we get used to the idea of hareems its time to through them out and make space for the tapered style, the new quirky trouser.

I'm going to be honest, i actually REALLY like them but there is one catch, i haven't yet found a pair that looks good, not because there horrible designs but because i am too small, i have tryed 3 pairs on and still no luck (i will keep you updated on my mission) That said, i have seen many petite women pull them off so i am still crossing my fingers that one day, and SOON! i find the pair that is my soul mate.

Now you will find that they come up quite short but don't be mistaken, this is what they are meant to look like, which of course makes it difficult to match a good pair of shoes. Apparently only heels look good with these but i think that is wrong, i have seen many stylish women wearing them with brogues (which i also want a pair of), this is what i would do for the perfect country-side/laid back lass look.

I am in favour of these navy blue ones from Topshop for only £38.00. Maybe these will be my perfect match?

I personally would pair these with brogues and a tucked in shirt but that's just me, if you haven't already got a pair, these are must haves for the autumn and you will be seeing a hell of a lot more of them as the months pass by.

I'm Back!!

I know i havent done a blog post in too long but i am back and they are going to be better than ever!!!
i have just been busy with GCSE's but now with that out the way i have made it a personal duty to do at least 3 posts a week as i am now in sixth form and need to step up my game.
But there is a difference, i understand my blog is called "slice of fashion" but i am going to cover much more because its a big wide world out there and i want to make sure i put my stamp and opinion on EVERY LAST inch of it.

The Maxi

Now I'm not sure about this bad boy, i have seen a few nice ones but i have also seen some drastic disasters!
I think it all depends on 4 things

1) TYPE Big dramatic ones are a big NONO! unless you want to draw unwanted attention to yourself, my favourite ones are either simple spaghetti straps one colour or a nice bandeau patterned (not to bright)like this one......

and its only from Primark!

2) TIME, in my opinion the time in which you wear your dress is very crucial, it is not a great casual day time look, like when you are out shopping stick to the summer shorts and t-shirt unless you are a celeb or generally don't care, excuses for day time wear are, the races, a summer event e.g. BBQ or Garden party and on holiday.

NO

3) ACCESSORIES be careful when you accessorize because you could go over board, like COCO CHANEL once said when you accessorize look in the mirror and take the last thing you put on OFF, when i think of maxi dresses i instantly think of Mercedes in Holly oaks in a black one, back combed hair and gold jewellery and it looks pretty chavy. Paired with oversize shades, gorgeous wedges and a nice cuff bracelet you couldn't go wrong.

4) LENGTH make sure it is past your ankles please otherwise i think you look like an idiot.

I like this one.....

even though i really want one for my summer hols it will be hard to actually find the courage to leave the apartment!

I know its called making a statement but jeeeezzz!

Making a Comeback!

I don't know if you have noticed or not but River Island at the moment is looking GURRDDDDD! i am very impressed. It went through a phase of being pretty chavvy and finding a way to incorporate a neon stripe in almost everything but right now is steering well clear.
It seems to be that Topshop is falling from the top spot because i can not seem to find anything wearable in that store and i have already picked out my summer wardrobe in RI, Topshop needs to stop being so quirky because who would actually wear half the things down the street! NOT ME.

Here are River islands summer looks:

There are many more nicer things in store i just cant get any pictures of them, there is a gorgous playsuit which will be my first, but you will have to pop in and see for yourself.

The Perfect Bag

Why am i finding it so hard to find the perfect summer bag?
Maybe its because of my pickyness and specific details but surely there has got to be one out there and i need it QUICK because summer is approaching and FAST.

My list of targets that it has to meet are as followed:

1)Slouchy

2)NOT leather

3)One colour

4)Nice strap, not a thick leather one

5)Not to big and not to small

6)Summery colour preferably pastels and nudes (NOT BLACK)

Hopefully i will just walk past it when im not looking and it will meant to have been but i dont know if i can just sit around and wait to much longer!

Style Icon

If it be on the street or on the carpet, Hills star, Lauren Conrad, knows how to work it and she has got to be, for me, a major style icon.

My favourite ensemble of hers being the one she wore to Heidi's wedding, and to me she made an exit in proper STYLE, Chanel should pay the girl or something because after seeing this image i now crave a black tote identical to this one.

No wonder this girl is such a hit in the fashion industry.

Paloma comes to River Island

Singer Paloma Faith has put her unique flare in fashion to good use by designing her own range for high street shop River Island and of i am going to be honest i quite like it.

It is a tone down from her normally outrageous outfits but they still have that uniqueness about them.
The clothes are coming soon and i got to see them in a magazine of mine and i am really liking a playsuit of hers, if i was ever to wear one it would be this one and i think i may invest.

Primani Chester: A blessing or a curse?

I am sure everyone knows by now that Primark will be taking the place of Woolworths in chester.

A tacky shop for a tacky shop i guess.

It has come to my attention that yes primark does own one or two nice things a season but will that mean everyone will be walking around in the same clothes all the time?

Primark in my opinion is only good for its lingerie, cheap pumps (£2.00) and jewellery, even though they do brake the minute you get them home, basically things that can not really be seen or recognised but that is just me, i am positive there will be people who like the clothes and on a non-school uniform day or trips into town everyone will be looking like clones.

I liked the idea of having to make the trek into Liverpool or Manchester for your nearest Primani, it made the items a little bit more special.

One thing Primark is good for is getting those simple everyday wardrobe pieces for little money and occasionally they do have the odd nice thing.

The socks stay on the court!

NO NO NO!

Even though it is said to be a major fashion trend of spring/summer 2010 i am NOT a fan.
You easily wreck a good outfit by putting socks on that come up to your knee, for you people that think it looks good, what planet are you on? Do you honestly think you look on trend? Because you don't, well technically you do but would you really threaten your respect and dignity just to go and follow something horrible.
Just because SJP is wearing them doesn't mean you have to.....

If it was "cool" or on "trend" to wear a Borat swimsuit would you do it?
I didn't think so.

The only way that you have a slight chance in looking good in them is if you have KILLER legs and put them with high boots like Jameela who just has a little bit of cotton peeking out the top.

Knee high socks are destined for failure and if you can, you should keep them to the tennis court.

3 April 2010

Jumpsuits and Playsuits!

A favourite of singer Rihanna, Jumpsuits and Play suits are returning for a new summer trend and hopefully it lasts longer than its previous.

How to wear

Evening: Single-shouldered and sequin covered jumpsuits were a striking alternative to the traditional evening dress.

Basic: while some designers have gone for prints and intricate detailing, the likes of Stella McCartney and Givenchy presented the ideal basic options. A more versatile wardrobe staple, go for black, white or nude colours and simple straight cuts.

Loose and flowing: the perfect take for Spring/Summer, this look has a dash of hippy - working best when combined with soft floral prints. Fabrics should be free-flowing, legs wide and long. The likes of Roberto Cavalli and Etro produced the perfect examples

Dungarees!

According to Vogue Dungarees are said to make a massive come back for spring/summer 2010.

Personally i wouldn't wear them simply because i don't have the guts to go out in something so daring but i would admire anyone who tries and definitely applaud anyone who pulls them off.

I am a fan but unfortunately you wont see me in them, im not saying Never but it is highly unlikely.

They have been making appearances on most Catwalk like Ralph Lauren etc...

I would team them with a plain short sleeved t-shirt and pumps and i would go for short dungarees to give a warm summer look.

31 March 2010

Accessorise with skulls!

One of the many great, influential pieces that fashion legend Alexander Mcqueen has left behind is his Gothic Skull Prints on t-shirts, bags and my favourite of all Scarves.

They complement any leather jacket and even the stars are seen out and about wearing them, check out Lindsay Lohan below.

If like me, you simply don't have £220 to spend on a real Alexander Mcqueen,

Lucky for us the high street have jumped on the band wagon and one can be yours from £10.

Like this Orange one from www.Dollydagger.co.uk

Or this one from Miss Selfridges for £12

Unfortunately one of an Alexander Mcqueen design that i cant see taking off into trend anytime in the near future are his Alien heels.

I don't know maybe some one will prove me wrong!

Keep the TuTu's to the Ballerina's

If there is one thing i hate more than Chav's, it Chav's out at night or even in the middle of the day in Tutu's, COME ON!

I don't know if they think they look sexy or whatever the truth is i wouldn't ever dare ask, but they just make an even bigger name for themselves.
They get annoyed when people call them "Cheap" or "Skanky" but if they didn't dress like idiots that would never happen. No guy should ever be proud of themselves if they pull a girl like this.....

It is definitely NOT a fashion statement. Personally i would rather be seen in nothing at all than in a Tacky, neon, mini MESS!

BEST AND WORST OF THE NICKELODEON KIDS CHOICE AWARDS

An event in which teen Hollywood can go out and show us what they are made of, and in my opinion they show me that hardly any of them can dress.

Selena Gomez: Normally she is one of my favourites on the red carpet but she has not really impressed me. It's not bad but i have seen her in better obviously she is just playing it safe. she does look stunning as always though.

Demi Lovato: Keeping her "rocker" look with this snug LBD but nothing screams safe more and in my opinion if you are lucky enough to have fame and be invited to events like the Kids choice awards dress it up a little.

RUNNER UPS

WORST

The runner up for worst outfit is ex Zoey 101 star Victoria justice. The dress is mediocre but the shoes just let the whole thing down and are actually quite horrible.

BEST

The Runner up for Best outfit is Yet another one of Nickelodeon’s successful girls, Keke Palmer is a joy to look at (minus the odd smile, of course). This candy-coloured Adam Spring 2009 number is just the right choice for the awards!

WINNERS

WORST

And the winner is..... well the truth is i have no idea who this girl is but boy is she making a bad first impression. WHAT IS SHE WEARING? she looks like something that has come of the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My tip is just loose everything and start again and steer clear of Bulk.

BEST

Now this is how to make a good first impression. I don't know who this girl is but she goes along with the name Gage Golightly and i absolutely love this dress on her; it is so flattering on her body and the black heels go perfectly, Now please Gage go show these girls how it is done. THANK YOU!

Cant wait for the Teen choice awards!

TIP

LEG's or CLEAVAGE ladies!

Not both or you will look like a cheap Hooker.

As Blake LIvely and Rihanna show us on the red carpet.
